Hawthorn Luxury Duplex


The contours of this site in the Hawthorn enabled the design to transition from a perceived two storey to a three storey dual occupancy at the rear.  As one steps into the townhouse, they are greeted by a generous double height foyer with mezzanine to the first floor. The fluidity of connecting spaces was paramount, in order to achieve openness to the plan.

Whilst effectively, each occupancy is limited in building footprint by creating vertical connections, a sense of spaciousness was achieved through the introduction of generous ceiling heights and efficient planning. Maximising the efficiency of the plan was key to achieving all of the client’s extensive brief which included four bedrooms, three bathrooms, open family /living/dining/kitchen, rumpus/home cinema, kitchen and butler’s pantry, rooftop deck, basement garage, cellar, and alfresco, and swimming pool.

With views to the Melbourne City skyline from the rear balconies, the project maximises the potential of the site by providing the luxuries of a larger family home in a condensed architectural solution.
